Washington, DC (May 1, 2024) – Holly Fechner, Executive Director of Invent Together, an alliance dedicated to expanding participation in inventing and patenting, issued the following statement commending the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Council for Inclusive Innovation (CI2) on the release of the first-ever National Strategy for Inclusive Innovation:
“The National Strategy for Inclusive Innovation represents an important step forward in our efforts to ensure that we harness the full breadth of U.S. inventive talent to safeguard our global technology leadership and strengthen our nation's competitiveness. As an original champion of the SUCCESS Act of 2018 that catalyzed USPTO leadership on inclusive innovation and a proud member of the CI2 Working Group, Invent Together congratulates CI2 Chair and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, CI2 Vice Chair and USPTO Director Kathi Vidal, and the other CI2 Vice Chairs and Council members on this important milestone. We thank Secretary Raimondo and Director Vidal for their commitment to engaging a broad range of stakeholders in the development of the National Strategy, including by providing opportunities for public comment. We are also delighted that the Strategy recognizes our patent education course, The Inventor’s Patent Academy, as an exemplary program and that many Invent Together partners’ programs, practices, and research are highlighted throughout the Strategy. We look forward to continuing to work with CI2, the USPTO, and other stakeholders to implement the Strategy, engage and empower American inventors of all backgrounds, and advance American innovation.”
